When
it feels like you are stuck in a situation where normal negotiation or communication is not or no longer possible, you might want to look into the option of Mediation.
Mediation can help you with an awkward workplace situation, around a neighbourhood dispute, in the context of a relationship issue or a family argument, or in any other circumstance where people consciously or sub-consciously have taken positions and do not know how to move on from there on their own.
Mediation can offer the possibility to open up these seemingly stuck places in a non-adversarial and sustainable way by guided communication.
If you feel mediation could help you in your situation, please find more information about the process, myself and my role as a mediator below.
Warm regards,
Marion
Mediation
Mediation is the process in which two or more parties in dispute voluntarily agree to the appointment of a neutral impartial third party (the Mediator)
As a form of resolving interpersonal disputes, mediation offers a non-adversarial and fair way to address a situation. Interpersonal mediation is fast, confidential, inexpensive, and leaves the ultimate settlement or resolution in the hands of the involved parties themselves.
The Mediator
As a certified and independent mediator, it is my role to manage and guide the process of mediation. More practically that means that I’m there to help you (the parties) to come to a solution that will be in both interests. The goal therefore is to reach a win-win outcome put down in a mutual agreement.
In this process I’m completely neutral and impartial. I don’t have any opinion or view about what is brought up during the meetings. I don’t take sides or favour anyone. Another thing I don’t do is give legal advice or make any decisions or judgements about the situation at hand.
The Mediation Process
The process normally consists of two separate meetings, where the parties have a private one to one talk with me as mediator. If both parties then agree to move further, a joint-meeting will be planned. During this joint-meeting both parties will address the situation together in presence and under guidance of me as mediator. Generally all meetings will take from one to two hours per meeting.
Mediation is a forward-looking process so while there will be a chance to talk about your grievances at the beginning, also directly to the other party, the emphasis will be on finding a mutual solution that will have a positive effect into the future.
Everything discussed during the process of mediation will be treated with complete confidentiality (with an obvious exception to a situation where there is risk of harm). Furthermore, all discussions during the process will be ‘without prejudice’, which means that nothing said can be referred to in any court action.
The Outcome
In mediation the parties work towards a mutual agreement. If this agreement is reached it will be signed by both parties. This means that both parties take full responsibility towards their commitment to work with that what is put down in the agreement.
And finally, towards the future there is a possibility to have a review after an agreed period or to agree to a future joint-meeting with both parties and me as mediator.
Mediation, hands you the building stones to turn a broken down stuck place into a healthy, workable and happy situation again for all people involved!

Introducing myself
I am Marion van Eupen, born in the Netherlands, but now living and working in Glastonbury, in the beautiful county of Somerset.
I am an accredited mediator, a lawyer and a spiritual trainer. In all three professions my main intention is and has always been to build bridges:
* bridges between people;
* bridges between people and situations;
* bridges between people and their spirituality.
I do not really believe in conflict as such, other than that it is a challenge, or maybe even better an opportunity.
As an interpersonal mediator it is my intention to help people to work with that challenge, to take that opportunity; to find ways to build bridges, meeting each other in what unites them.
As an interpersonal mediator it is my intention to help people to work with that challenge, to take that opportunity; to find ways to build bridges, meeting each other in what unites them.
I facilitate this process through creating a safe space that people can communicate in a open, honest and respectful way, aiming for an outcome that works for all involved and that is sustainable towards the future!
I offer a free first phone call of around 15 minutes to see what I can offer you in your situation.
After that my fee depends on the situation, like how much time and people are involved. Generally my personal fee is £ 75,- per party (plus expenses, like venue hire) and my commercial fee starts at £ 500,- (plus expenses). This is for the whole process, including administration.
Because I really believe in the work I do as a mediator I offer a discount of one third if the mediation does not end succesfully aka with a mutual agreement.
